In
an interview to Behindwoods.com, Simran said she is
getting plenty of offers for Tamil movies but she had
not yet decided on her projects over the next few months.
Asked why she was not doing any major film in Tamil
after Vaaranam Aayiram, Simran says, “I’m
getting a lot of offers for Tamil movies but I don’t
want all these mother roles all the time. I don’t
want to be seen as just a mother in all the films.”
Simran, in fact, put a counter-question to us. “Did
you like my role in Vaaranam Aayiram?”
We said, yes, everyone loved your role in Vaaranam Aayiram
with Suriya. Simran said, “That is great.”
We asked her whether she was worried about getting type
cast as a mother. |

Simran came back with a spontaneous, “Absolutely
yes. I don’t want to get typed as an actor. I
don’t want to do just stereotypes.”
We asked her what she wanted do. “Are you looking
for challenging roles – like a woman of substance
– more meaty roles?”
Simran said, “Absolutely. I’m waiting for
meaningful roles where I can make a mark as an actor.
I want to do different kind of roles. I will wait for
the right kind of roles and the right kind of projects.
I’m getting plenty of offers. Let’s see.”
On whether she would take up Television assignments
too as she had forayed into television, Simran said
TV is an option and here too there were plenty of offers
but she had not decided on the right project.
Will we see Simran again in Tamil movies soon? Back
with a bang?
Simran laughed and said, “Back? I’m already
there.” |
